GTEC Training Earns CABWI Accreditation for Water Industry Courses

GTEC Training, a specialist in building services and renewable energy training, has secured official accreditation from CABWI (Certification and Awarding Body for the Water Industry). This accreditation allows GTEC to deliver CABWI-certified courses, bolstering the skills of the energy and utilities workforce. The courses, including Level 1 and 2 Certificates in Network Construction Operations (Water), align with the industry’s evolving needs and CABWI’s rigorous standards.

Griff Thomas, Managing Director of GTEC Training, emphasised the significance of this achievement: “This reflects the hard work of our team and our mission to deliver best-in-class training solutions that support the green skills agenda and meet the highest industry standards. Our trainees will benefit from receiving nationally-recognised, regulated qualifications that will expand their career prospects and give them a competitive edge.”

Paul Byrne, Chief Executive Officer at CABWI Awarding Body, welcomed the collaboration: “We welcome the opportunity to work with GTEC Training as one of our licensed centres. The addition of our NCO Mains and Service layer Qualifications to their portfolio will enable these to be more widely available in the marketplace.”

GTEC Training, established over 15 years ago in West Yorkshire, specialises in upskilling tradespeople for the green revolution. Their comprehensive range of courses covers technologies such as heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging, among others. The company’s state-of-the-art facilities and bespoke on-site training cater to both individual learners and larger organisations.

This accreditation could significantly shape the water, sanitation, and drainage sector by enhancing the availability of high-quality, industry-recognised training. As the sector grapples with skills shortages and the pressing need for green infrastructure, such initiatives could accelerate the development of a competent workforce capable of driving innovation and sustainability. The collaboration between GTEC and CABWI sets a precedent for other training providers and industry bodies to follow, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and shared responsibility in addressing the sector’s skills challenges.
